Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water.

The "Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act" becomes nationally effective on January 4, 2014. This legislation reduces the allowable lead content of wetted surfaces in drinking water pipes, pipe fittings and plumbing fixtures. UPC NSF NSF  
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) Shield is applied to products that are certified by IAPMO as complying with both the product's performance standard and the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC). NSF-61 indicates that the product complies with the low lead standards of the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF).

This symbol ensures that the conditions of California's AB 1953 and Vermont's S-152, as well as the upcoming federal legislation, have been met. These new legislature actions require that select plumbing products wetted surfaces contain less than .025% lead content.
