The forging process offers a number of significant advantages over other metal-forming processes. Forging creates components with greater strength and resistance to fatigue. Because forged components are produced to near net shape, the need for secondary machining is minimized. Forgings are inherently smooth, and require minimal preparation for plating, buffing, or polishing.
